CVISION has introduced a new Cover Recognition Module (CovR) that detects multiple cover sheets in a multipage TIFF document—and works in conjunction with PdfCompressor or as a standalone.

The CovR groups and names output files based on information printed on inserted cover sheets, and offers users the following features:

  • Automatic cover sheet detection
  • Files named according to cover sheet information
  • Invariance to scanning resolution
  • Supports color, greyscale, and bitonal files
  • Converts multipage TIFF with cover separators to distinct TIFF or PDF files
  • Watched folder support

Here’s how CVISION’s CovR works: Pages coming off a scanning or digital copier device, or converted to TIFF from electronic formats, are automatically grouped into files based on the delimiting cover page. These files can also be alphanumerically named based on information from the cover page. CovR is robust to a moderate amount of imaging noise and skew. The cover page can be specified using a CovR -based HTML template file.

CVISION's CovR is fully integrated with CVista PdfCompressor v.3.0. It is easy to use CovR as part of a document processing workflow via watched folder, command line, or API control.

If the CovR module is used in conjunction with CVISION’s PdfCompressor v.3.0, then the processed files can also be

  • Web-optimized for fast Internet viewing,
  • OCRed for text-searchability,
  • Compressed to reduce transmission time and storage costs,
  • Encrypted for view, edit, and print protection.

Other PDF functionality in CovR includes resampling, colorspace reduction, deskew, despeckle, auto-smoothing, auto-cropping, Bates stamping, date stamping and watermarking.

“CovR offers another way to simplify electronic file recognition and organization,” said CVISION’s Ralph Cafiero. “It was created from the expressed needs of some of our customers. They were looking for an automated way to organize and index their electronic files and CovR exactly fulfills that need.”
