Convert JPEG to PDF

JPEG files are really popular formats as images are commonly recorded in JPEG formats. Even scanned images, faxes, and documents can be stored in the JPEG format as it's a compression algorithm that works really well to compress the stored images. However, these compression algorithms work on a lossy format which means that there will be a loss of data in the file. When the JPEG file is compressed, unnecessary data like sharp edges and darker colors are lost. JPEG files only work well when the files are dealing with slight changes of colors, tones and shades. But the files work on a lossy or data- loss form of compression scheme. This loss of data becomes obvious when the file is decompressed in the form of defects called as compression algorithms. Image quality deteriorates even further when the image file is archived and the archive is further compressed to reduce disc storage space.

Why is JPEG Not Good for Storing Images?

Another prominent problem with JPEG files is that picture resolution between the screen and the printer will vary causing a difference in the printed picture. JPEG formats are also not very good with small images or images that are combined with text. As a result, almost all users are advised to convert JPEG to PDF to ensure that image quality is retained and the important data is not lost. PDF files are the best format to store images and to make image archives. The main reason is that PDF files have their own compression algorithms that work on a lossless format.

As a result, there is no loss of image quality or clarity and you can print the document exactly how you prepared it. Another advantage is that all PDF files once converted come with an invisible text overlay that makes them text searchable. This is much better than JPEG files that cannot be searched or indexed for what they contain. You can also choose to combine and merge PDF file archives to make a single archive of different images. It is also possible to split a PDF image archive and make two separate documents from it.
