Question:
PDF merge-split: is it possible using your software? I have several PDF documents that I want to merge into one larger document, and some large documents that I want to split into smaller ones. Can you tell me how to do this?
Answer:
PdfCompressor has PDF merge-split functionality. The advantage to using PdfCompressor, rather than a tool that only merges and splits PDF files, is that merging documents tends to create large PDF files, which are then difficult to transfer and store. PdfCompressor, after merging your PDFs, will drastically compress the resulting files. PdfCompressor also includes many features in addition to PDF merge-split and PDF compression; you can explore the free trial version to see for yourself.

Question:
I’m looking for a free PDF compressor so that I can compress several PDF files for my website. Does CVISION have a free PDF compressor?
Answer:
Yes, we do have a free PDF compressor. We have two, in fact: an online PDF compression tool, and a free trial version of our PdfCompressor software. Both work very well for small-scale PDF compression. Of course, if you have many PDF files to compress, or if you want to be able to customize the compression settings, you may want to look into purchasing the full version, which can do large batch processing and has many features not included in free PDF compressor software.

Question:
I use a web-based email service, and therefore have a fairly restrictive attachment size limit. I often need to circulate large PDF files in my office, but am unable to due to the files exceeding the attachment limit. Is reducing the size of a PDF file an effective way to solve this problem?
Answer:
The short answer is yes, reducing the size of a PDF file can generally make it small enough to fit within standard attachement limits. Of course, there are several factors involved, such as the size and content of the PDF, and the compression software used to reduce the size of the PDF file. CVISION’s PdfCompressor has a compression factor range of 5-10x for black and white PDF files and 10-100x for color. You can try reducing the size of a PDF file with the online compression tool or the free trial version of PdfCompressor to see if it solves your problem (see link to downloads page below).

Question: I have recently installed the CVista PDF compression tool and have been playing with different settings to maximize speed and compression. So far I have been experimenting with 10K accounts and have been able to reach a balance between speed and compression using the following settings:
PDF Input Processing
- do not rasterize PDF pages
Compression Options
– auto-segmentation turned off
- bitonal compression
- perceptually lossless
- compression algorithm
- faster compression
- greyscale
- JPEG2000 high image quality
- color compression
- JPEG2000 high image quality
Are there any other settings I should have that would allow for greater speed and compression?
Answer: First please remember you can increase you processing time by having more processors available on one machine, and using our multithreading feature, increasing your processing time almost by the number of available processors.
As for your particular file set processing efficiency, it is difficult to say without actually looking at your files. Please feel free to submit a few files to us so that we can give you the optimal suggestion on the settings.
If you would like to extend your trial, I have attached the link below:
