Decrease File Size of Scanned File

October 15th, 2009 by Marsha

Question:
Is it possible to decrease the file size of a scanned file, or does the file size depend only on the initial scanner settings?

Answer:
It is definitely possible to modify a file after it has been scanned, including changing its size. The best way the decrease file size is through the use of compression software. Compression software allows you to obtain smaller files without any information loss. If you are looking for the right compression software for your needs, I would recommend CVISION’s PdfCompressor as a universal solution. PdfCompressor can convert files to PDF from many other formats, leaving you with documents in a format that is convenient and easy to use, and it can reach compression rates of up to 100x.
