Question:
I work in a busy medical practice in Boston and am looking for a way to automate some of our data entry. As you can imagine, we deal with a practically never-ending stream of forms. We could scan them to PDF documents but isn’t very helpful as we need to be able to search and edit the information.

Answer:
OCR sounds like a good idea for your practice. OCR (optical character recognition) converts PDFs and other document types into text files that are able to be edited and searched. Check out our downloads page, to which I have provided a link, for a free trial version of PDF OCR software from CVISION. If you like it, you can purchase a full version with many more options and functions.
