Free Online PDF Compressor

August 7th, 2009 by Michael

Question:
Is there a good free online PDF compressor that I can use to compress some large PDF documents that I need to email? I tried sending them, but was unable to because of my attachment size limit.

Answer:
We provide a free online PDF compressor that is powered by our PdfCompressor software. Our free online PDF compressor includes OCR, which will make your compressed PDF documents text-searchable, and web-optimization, which ensures that your PDFs load smoothly when viewed from a web browser. If you have a large number of files to compress, a free online PDF compressor may not be the best solution, and you may want to consider a commercial PDF compressor that can do batch compression.

Convert TIFF Files Using Watched Folders

August 6th, 2009 by Michael

Question:
I am familiar with your product for compressing PDFs. I am interested in using this product to reduce the size of a large number of TIFF files and would also like to convert the TIFF files to PDF by setting up a watched folder. The scanner software I am using only supports scanning to TIFF, so I need a way to convert TIFFs to PDFs.

Will I be able to convert TIFF to PDF in watched folder and compress the files?

If so, will the OCR feature work, or should I get the version that doesn’t include OCR? OCR is not a requirement, but I would prefer to have the feature for the difference in price.

Answer:
You will absolutely be able to convert your TIFF files to PDFs and compress them in watched folder mode. The OCR will work as well. We have a free trial version available to download if you’d like to try it out before you buy.

PDF File Compressors

August 3rd, 2009 by Marsha

Question:
Are PDF file compressors worth the money? Does it make sense to purchase software just to reduce the file size?

Answer:
That depends on the types of files that you work with, and what you need to do with them. Very often, PDF files are simply too large and bulky to handle, especially if you post them online or share them via email. If your files take up a lot of space and take a very long time to upload, you may need to make them smaller. PDF file compressors are able to do this without any information loss, so that you have all the benefits of working with a small file, but keep the contents of the original file. You can decide for yourself whether you need a PDF compressor without actually spending any money. Download the free trial version of CVISION’s PdfCompressor, and see if you find it helpful.
