I have a bunch of scanned documents on my computer, but I really can’t do anything with them because the files are too big, and the computer can’t recognize the text anyway, so they are pretty useless to me at this point. What can I do to make them more convenient?

Your scanned documents are probably in TIFF format, which can be converted to PDF to make it easier to work with. PDF files can be compressed without any information loss, becoming web-friendly and compatible with email. You can then use an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program to identify the characters in the text, so that your documents become text-searchable and editable.
