Question: I am wondering if you have command line support for PDF Compressor Desktop version.
Answer: PDF Compressor Desktop has a number of limitations compared to the professional edition; the following features are only available with PDF Compressor professional edition.
• PDF Compressor Professional Edition supports Batch Compression
• The Professional Edition includes “watched folder” capabilities
• PDF Compressor Pro Version enables users to compress files that are greater than 100 pages in length
• The Professional Edition processes directories of files with a single click.
• PDF Compressor Professional Edition ONLY includes a Command Line Interface
• The Professional Edition supports use through an API
• Technical Support is available with the Professional Edition
If these features were available during your evaluation, you must have been evaluating the Professional version and purchased the Desktop.
Many of our Desktop clients do not realize they are eligible to upgrade to the Professional Edition of PDF Compressor by simply paying the difference of the upgrade. If you wish to upgrade please feel free to contact sales(at)cvisiontech.com.
If you are interested in testing PDF Compressor Pro Edition, I have included the link below:

Question: We are in the initial phase of using PdfCompressor. I’ve discovered some tweaks we need to make. We find some of our searches are failing. What is the best setting for OCR recognition? We currently have ‘analysis’ setting at Balanced and confidence setting at 0%. Also some images are not right side up. Is that just setting on the “rotations” tab? Our setup is using the watched folders. In order to make these setting changes do I have to run the jobs? I don’t see a save option.
Answer: The mode of OCR is better in Accurate and even more so in Super Accurate. Please see which one of them works better for you, but remember that the more accurate the OCR the longer it will take to process.
When making changes to the watch folder you must commit the settings by pressing the Run Job button. This will apply all the changes you made in the GUI to the watched folders. Please remember to STOP the service before hitting the Run Job Button and applying the new settings.

Question: I have recently installed the CVista PDF compression tool and have been playing with different settings to maximize speed and compression. So far I have been experimenting with 10K accounts and have been able to reach a balance between speed and compression using the following settings:
PDF Input Processing
- do not rasterize PDF pages
Compression Options
– auto-segmentation turned off
- bitonal compression
- perceptually lossless
- compression algorithm
- faster compression
- greyscale
- JPEG2000 high image quality
- color compression
- JPEG2000 high image quality
Are there any other settings I should have that would allow for greater speed and compression?
Answer: First please remember you can increase you processing time by having more processors available on one machine, and using our multithreading feature, increasing your processing time almost by the number of available processors.
As for your particular file set processing efficiency, it is difficult to say without actually looking at your files. Please feel free to submit a few files to us so that we can give you the optimal suggestion on the settings.

Question: Can the Maestro Application be run at night or at times when there is less demand for computer resources?
Answer: The Watch Folder has a scheduler that the user can enable and indicate at what time they want the service to start and what time they want the service to Stop, and this can be broken down by days.

Question: When running Maestro for OCR does the application have an “auto function ability” that is it will not need a person available to restart the OCR processing of the files if it can’t OCR one particular file. (By passing exceptions.)
Answer: The software will continue to process in that kind of case, moving on to the next file. A warning will be written to the log file, recording that a page was not OCRed
