Question:
What are some important capabilities of PDF image software?
Answer:
The purpose of PDF image software is to help users create, process, and view PDF images. I would like to focus on three major elements that I find most important. First of all, since you may not always have your images in the desired format, PDF image software should be able to convert images from other formats into PDF. Next, because PDF files can often be very large and inconvenient, you need to be able to reduce the file size. Therefore, compression is an extremely important part of PDF image software. Finally, one tool that makes PDF files significantly easier to work with is OCR. OCR makes your images text-searchable, which is useful if your image file contains any text. One comprehensive solution that contains all of these features is PdfCompressor.

Question:
Is there something different about the formatting of PDF images that are posted online, when compared to other PDF images?
Answer:
The PDF files that are posted online are just regular PDF files that have been Web-optimized. When you post an image online in PDF format, you don’t want the file to be too large, or it will slow the computer down significantly and take a very long time to load. For this reason, you can optimize the file for online use by reducing the file size. This process is called PDF compression. You can compress images in PDF format with only a minimal decrease in image quality, but you gain a lot by doing it. One great tool for compressing PDF files is PdfCompressor, which can reduce the file size by 10x-100x.

Question:
Where can I find the best freeware for OCR conversion?
Answer:
If you’re looking for OCR conversion freeware, you probably have some image files that you want to convert to text. This is a common problem, because all scanned documents are initially seen by the computer simply as image files. There are many different OCR tools available online, and the number of options can certainly seem overwhelming at first. I would recommend that you break down your priorities in terms of speed, accuracy, language options, and other features before choosing the tool that’s right for you. In addition to looking at freeware, you can check out free trials offered by OCR software producers. One excellent OCR solution is CVISION’s Maestro Recognition Server, a leader in OCR speed and accuracy, and supporting over 60 languages. Question:
I have a bunch of scanned documents on my computer, but I really can’t do anything with them because the files are too big, and the computer can’t recognize the text anyway, so they are pretty useless to me at this point. What can I do to make them more convenient?
Answer:
Your scanned documents are probably in TIFF format, which can be converted to PDF to make it easier to work with. PDF files can be compressed without any information loss, becoming web-friendly and compatible with email. You can then use an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program to identify the characters in the text, so that your documents become text-searchable and editable. Once you’ve OCRed the text, you can locate relevant documents just by typing in a keyword. CVISION’s PdfCompressor can perform all of these steps for you. All you have to do is place the document on the scanner.

Is it necessary to reduce PDF file size for web sites? And if so, what software do you recommend for reducing PDF file size for web use?
